The first Train of the Ceylon Railway operated from Colombo to Ambepussa, conveying the Duke of Brabant of Belgium,on 27th December 1864.This Museum was opened to mark the

sesquicentennial celebrations. A Memorial Stamp,

Memorial First Day Cover and a Souvenir  were issued

on this occasion.
